{"id":22,"date":"2016-07-25T04:36:50","date_gmt":"2016-07-25T04:36:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pcb.net.in\/blog\/?p=22"},"modified":"2016-07-27T16:04:22","modified_gmt":"2016-07-27T16:04:22","slug":"kpmg-report-on-yamuna-expressway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pcb.net.in\/blog\/2016\/07\/25\/kpmg-report-on-yamuna-expressway\/","title":{"rendered":"KPMG report on Yamuna Expressway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Delhi Metro, Yamuna-expressway among 6 infrastructure projects in KPMG world markets report<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro, Yamuna-expressway and Tata Power\u2019s Mundra ultra mega power project in Gujarat are among the six ventures that have figured in the list of world\u2019s most innovative, impactful infrastructure projects prepared by international accounting firm KPMG.<\/p>\n<p>The other three projects in the KPMG\u2019s Infrastructure 100: World Markets report are Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT), Interceptor Sewage System and Narmada Canal Solar project.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>These projects were evaluated on the basis of their scale, feasibility, complexity, innovation and impact on society, KPMG said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach country has its own approach to developing and funding infrastructure, yet all share the universal challenge of creating the right conditions to attract investment so desperately needed,\u201d James Stewart, KPMG\u2019s Chairman of Global Infrastructure said.<\/p>\n<p>Opened in 2012, the 165-kilometer, six-lane Yamuna Expressway is India\u2019s longest motorway, connecting the capital New Delhi with Agra and creating a corridor for economic growth, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>By dramatically reducing the travel time between these two historic cities, the $1.9 billion project will have a lasting impact on villagers, tourists, traders and working professionals and should expand trade.<\/p>\n<p>The expressway also has symbolic value by showcasing the country\u2019s ability to develop world-class infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Ten years after its first line opened, the $2.3 billion Delhi Metro continues to expand, setting a shining example of how to carry out an effective public works programme.<\/p>\n<p>Taking heed of the problems experienced by the Kolkata Metro \u2013 which was badly delayed and 12 times over budget \u2013 the development team utilised innovative procurement and strong project and contract management techniques, it said.<\/p>\n<p>The $4.4 billion Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project is a major, coal-fired thermal power plant serving the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana and Punjab.<\/p>\n<p>A 25-year concession has led what is a landmark PPP for the Indian energy sector, the report said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delhi Metro, Yamuna-expressway among 6 infrastructure projects in KPMG world markets report NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro, Yamuna-expressway and Tata Power\u2019s Mundra ultra mega power project in Gujarat are among the six ventures that have figured in the list of world\u2019s most innovative, impactful infrastructure projects prepared by international accounting firm KPMG.
